Veterans Affairs Canada pays tribute to those who were there to help when the 1998 ice storm hit regions of Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. Thousands of Canadians were plunged into the dark and cold for weeks as power lines fell due to heavy ice and snow. Alongside public utilities and police forces, over 15,000 members of the Canadian Armed Forces were there to help and support the immense rebuilding effort. Through images and personal stories from those that were there, this exhibition pays tribute to all who served in “Operation Recuperation” 25 years ago.
