The Lynx was used in the Canadian military as an armoured reconnaissance and command vehicle. Formerly used by the Fort Garry Horse, this Lynx was placed as a memorial by the Fort Garry Horse Association and the regiment to honour all Regular and Reserve Force personnel who trained in this vehicle. It was dedicated on 21 September 1997, the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Fort Garry Horse and the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Cambrai.
