Location:

Le Quesnel is a village about 26 kilometres south-east of Amiens and 8 kilometres south-west of Rosieres and a little north of the main road from Amiens to Noyon. LE QUESNEL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION is situated on the northern side of the village on the road to Caix.

  • Photo of Oswald Wardrop– Oswald Wardrop was born on 4 Dec 1892 at Muirend Farm, Dunlop, Ayrshire, Scotland. He worked as a gamekeeper. In 1915 he decided to emigrated to the USA sailing from Glasgow on the S.S. Cameronia on 20 March 1915 arriving in New York ten days later. The ship's manifest shows that he had $40 to his name and no place to stay. He was directed to the WMCA on 23rd Street, New York City and found employmnt as a gamekeeper at Glenmere Kennels in Chester, Orange County, New York. On 5th September 1917 he enlisted in the Canadian Army at Toronto. He was listed as 5'9" with brown hair, brown eyes and a scar on his left side. He returned to Europe in Dec 1917 aboard the S.S. Scotian arriving in France with the 75th Canadians (1st Central Ontario Regiment.) Private Oswald Wardrop 3030330, serving with the 75th Bn., Canadian Infantry, Central Ontario Regiment, died aged 25 on Friday 9 August 1918. He was the son of John Wardrop and Annie Wardrop (M.S. Templeton) of Cavin Mill, Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland.
