In the Middle East we were responsible for moving people from
Canada through to, we went through Italy the first time and onto
El Arish in Egypt. I ended up in Beirut, which we covered people
going back and forth and that was an interesting experience
because between Beirut and Egypt lays Israel but according to
Beirut and Egypt, their borders touch, Israel isn't there. It's
just like if you wiped it off the map, it’s not there, they
wouldn't acknowledge them. So travelling, going say from,
driving through on a convoy for example through to from El Arish
or Rafah to Beirut, which we used to do to get supplies coming
in, Israeli police used to escort us directly through Israel non
stop, two or three motorcycles in front and a couple side cars
beside us and the rest behind us, and we couldn't stop, right
straight through. About maybe half a mile from the Lebanese
border they were finished and we we would be on our own from
there til the border and they’d let us into Lebanon. They didn't
acknowledge that we'd come through Israel, we'd come directly
from Egypt.
