Three Types of Soldiers
There’s the soldier that listens to you, understands and then
does it. The second type of soldier, well, you have to yell at
him to get him to understand. And the third, well, he’s the
guy who doesn’t get anything. It’s like a criminal today who
needs a good punch in the face or a kick in the backside to
get him to understand what’s what, and even so, you can’t
change him. Y’know, people say that everyone is good, everyone
is nice, but it’s not true. Some people, whether it’s in the
army or elsewhere, are just incorrigible. You try all kinds of
things, but . . . The commanding officer once said to a guy
who was on parade, “This man is from the gutter and should
return to the gutter.” There're guys like that,
y’know . . . there’s nothing that can be done . . .
And when you see all the criminals around these
days, and they want to try and turn them into good people, and
they let them go and they start all over again, doing the
exact same things they did before.
