Donald Stewart

Mr. Stewart is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran. He is an active member of the Edmonton Naval Community Committee, the founder of the Chiefs and Petty Officers Alumni Group and is actively involved with the Naval Officers Association of Canada, The Royal Canadian Naval Association, the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service and the Sea Cadets. For the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy, Mr. Stewart was instrumental in developing and implementing the plans for the Edmonton celebration. He worked with Canada Lands Corporation to develop a permanent tribute to the Navy that involved a project on the recovered Griesbach land site. The tribute contained storyboards reflecting the 100 year history of the Navy, the Battle of the Atlantic, naval street names in residential areas, and a life size bow of the HMCS Edmonton on Bedford Basin. Mr. Stewart has served as an active member of the Edmonton Salutes Committee for the past 10 years, which recognizes and works with the military personnel of the Edmonton Garrison to make them and their families feel welcome as valued members of the community.
