Information on Canada Post service disruption
Monthly Veterans Affairs Canada cheques for October, including disability benefits will be delivered October 17-22. Post offices may open either October 17, 21, or 22 to allow access to P.O. boxes for monthly benefit cheques only. Hours and dates will vary and will be posted on the front door of your local post office.
We encourage you to sign up for direct deposit. If you are registered for My VAC Account, you can sign-up for direct deposit now. Please still call our toll-free line at 1-866-522-2122 to confirm the change has been made. The deadline to sign up for direct deposit for November is October 31.
If you do not receive your cheque due to the Canada Post labour dispute and are experiencing financial strain, please contact us at 1-866-522-2122.
If you would like to apply for disability benefits during the Canada Post labour disruption, apply for a MyVAC Account. You can also call 1-866-522-2122 if you need printed forms made available to you at your location area office.
If you need to share information with VAC during the Canada Post labour disruption, you have options:
- Submit electronically using MyVAC Account (Note: excludes VIP claims)
- Drop off urgent information at any VAC or Service Canada office.

Disability pension corrective payment
If you received a Veterans Affairs Canada disability pension or certain related benefits between 2003 and 2010, you are eligible for a corrective payment because of a discrepancy in our calculations during those years. Most payments to recipients are automatic.
