Son of William and Elizabeth E. Hooton, of Bolton, Lancashire, England. Corporal Hooten, before enlisting in the 31st Battalion was a C.P.R. fireman. He resided in Calgary for the last three years before enlistment originally coming from Bolton, Lancshire, England. He was single and an engineer.
