Baptized Joseph-Henry Bouchard. Son of Ernest Bouchard and Agnès Côté, of Montréal, Québec. He stated being born on 14 November when he enlisted.

Enlisted as Honoré Bouchard in the 69th Reserve Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he was transferred to England with the 22nd Battalion on 28 April 1916. He arrived in France on the 29th and rejoined his unit on 13 July. He took part in the fighting in the Lens sector, then in the capture of Catapult Trench. He was killed in action on 25 August 1916 in the Voormezeele-St-Éloi sector, near Ypres, in Belgium.

ELZENWALLE BRASSERIE CEMETERY is located 5 Km south west of Ieper town centre, on the Kemmelseweg, a road connecting Ieper to Kemmel (N331).

From Ieper town centre the Kemmelseweg is reached via the Rijselsestraat, through the Lille Gate (Rijselpoort), and straight on towards Armentieres (N365). 900 m after the crossroads is the right hand turning onto the Kemmelseweg. (Made prominent by a railway level crossing).

The ELZENWALLE BRASSERIE CEMETERY lies 4 Km along the Kemmelseweg on the right hand side of the road.
