Location:

Fricourt is a village and commune in the Department of the Somme, about 5 kilometres east of Albert; Peake Wood was the name given by the Army to a copse on the south-east side of the road to Contalmaison. The PEAKE WOOD CEMETERY is on the north-west side of the road almost opposite the copse, about one kilometre from Contalmaison and 7 kilometres from Albert Railway Station.

  • Grave Marker– On our first visit to France, we stopped at the Peake Wood Cemetery during our drive between the Le Quesnel Memorial and Arras.
W.F. Wakeman was the lone Canadian there, so I took a picture. The original picture includes his neighbour, R.J MacKinnon a driver with Royal Field Artillery.
