At the time of his enlistment he had named an uncle as his next of kin, namely: Anthime Bazinet, husband of Édesse Brunet (deceased in 1919), of St-Canut, Deux-Montagnes, Québec. He had also declared himself a native of St-Canut but he cannot be found in genealogy resources. The above date of birth is therefore according to what he had declared at the time.

Loos (Loos-en-Gohelle) is a village to the north of the road from Lens to Bethune. From Lens, take the N43 towards Bethune. Arriving at Loos, turn right at CWGC sign post. The LOOS BRITISH CEMETERY is about 1 kilometre from Loos Church in the southern part of the village.
