Location:

Souchez is a village in the Department of the Pas-De-Calais, 3.5 kilometres north of Arras on the main road to Bethune. It lies in the valley of the Souchez river, between the Lorette Bridge to the west and Vimy Ridge to the east. The CABARET-ROUGE BRITISH CEMETERY is about 1.5 kilometres south of the village on the west side of the D937 Arras-Bethune Road.

  • Photo of William John Martin– William John Martin would have been 12 years old in 1910. I believe this picture was taken around then as I believe the woman in front (My Aunt Adelle) moved to Toronto that year. I think the young boy in the back beside his Mother would be William. Born 1798 died 1917. I have never been to Nova Scotia or met any of the family there.
