Who we fund

A look at the work organizations we fund are doing to improve the well-being of 2SLGBTQI+ Canadian Veterans and their families.

The Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund provides grants and contributions to private, public or academic organizations to conduct research and implement initiatives and projects that support the well-being of Veterans and their families. Some organizations are creating new and innovative ways to improve the well-being of 2SLGBTQI+ Veterans.

Below are organizations that work directly with 2SLGBTQI+ Veterans and have received funding from the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund.

Veterans Association Food Bank

The Veterans Association Food Bank is dedicated to supporting and enriching the lives of Veterans and their families by providing services that promote wellbeing, mental health, peer support and food security.

They are using funding from the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund to develop new programming specifically to support 2SLGBTQI+ Veterans as well as survivors of Military Sexual Trauma and to implement new peer-led activities in Edmonton and Calgary.

Gender-based violence program

The Gender-Based violence program takes action to support survivors and their families.

LGBTQ2 Capacity fund

Invests in projects that increase the capacity of eligible 2SLGBTQI+ organizations whose initiatives advance equality for all people.es advance equality for all people.

Equality for Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression Program

The Equality for Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression Program aims to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Funding is provided to eligible organizations for time-specific projects, including partnership building, capacity building, and applied community research, etc.
