Mr. Black retired as a lieutenant-colonel from the Canadian Armed Forces in January 2007, after 30 years of service as a tactical helicopter pilot and senior defence analyst. His last flying responsibilities were as commanding officer of 403 Helicopter Operational Training Squadron in Oromocto, New Brunswick. Mr. Black is the Executive Director of the Air Force Association of Canada. Through the National President, Mr. Black is responsible to the Board of Directors of the Association’s National Executive Council for implementing the policies and directives of the Council; advising the Council on the effectiveness of the Association’s policies and procedures; maintaining liaisons with applicable government agencies and departments relevant to the Association’s activities; and organizing and supervising the conduct of the Association’s national annual general meetings as well as national executive council meetings. Mr. Black is also responsible for liaising with all levels of the Air Force Association of Canada, working through group and wing executives, as required.
