Ken Pifher

Grimsby, Ontario

Mr. Pifher is a Second World War Veteran, and was a prisoner of war in Hong Kong for nearly four years. He has been a long time member of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) and has served on numerous committees including the Poppy Campaign. Mr. Pifher joined the Hong Kong Veterans' Association shortly after its inception and has been a loyal member, always striving to fulfill the goals of the association. In particular, he has focussed on improving communication among the provincial councils. In December 2011, at the age of 90, Mr. Pifher travelled to Japan to receive, on behalf of all Hong Kong Veterans, the apology of Japan for the treatment of Canadian prisoners of war during the Second World War.
