Hunter's Cemetery

The origin of this cemetery’s name may refer to a Chaplain, Reverend Hunter, who was attached to The Black Watch – Royal Highland Regiment.

The cemetery was established in a large shell hole where soldiers of the 51^st (Highland) Division who died during the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel were buried.

Using the D919 from Arras to Amiens you will drive through the villages of Bucquoy, Puisieux then Serre Les Puisieux (approximately 20 kilometres south of Arras).

Leaving Serre Les Puisieux, and 3 kilometres further along the D919, turn left following the signs for Auchonvillers.

At the crossroads in the village centre, follow the signs for Beaumont Hamel Newfoundland Battlefield Memorial Park.
