Baptized Joseph Reginald Haley. Son of Bernard Haley and Gertrude Christianne Belliveau of Matapédia, (Québec). Brother of Bernard, William, Gerald, Richard, Edwin, Teresa, Marian, Doreen, Laura, Kathleen, Murtis and Joan. Husband of Mary Bridget Muriel Genora Belliveau and father of Corina, Reginald, Murtis, Douglas and Olive. His brother, rifleman Bernard Haley, service number E-30005, of the Royal Rifles of Canada, was also prisoner of war in Hong Kong and in Japan; he survived the war.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
