Location:

TAUKKYAN WAR CEMETERY is outside Yangon (formerly Rangoon, Burma), near the airport and immediately adjoining the village of Taukkyan. It is on PY1 road (formerly Prome Road), about 35 kilometres north of the city from which it is easily accessible.

  • Letter– Letter dated 1 November 1946 to father re burial of his son with other crew on Dakota II KG899.  Later the bodies were reburied in the Taukkyan War Cemetery.

  • Memorial Plaque– Leading Aircraftman ROBERT HAROLD PROSSER, is one of 21 men commemorated on this plaque, placed In Loving Memory of the Men of St Lukes Parish who gave their lives in the World War II, in St Luke’s Anglican Church, Ottawa, Ontario.  He died on January 12, 1945 and is buried in TAUKKYAN WAR CEMETERY, Myanmar.
  • Newspaper Clipping– Leading Aircraftman ROBERT HAROLD PROSSER was reported to have been Killed on Active Service, in the Department of National Defense for Air Casualty List 1102 of the Royal Canadian Air Force, published in the Globe and Mail on January 29, 1945. Flight Lieutenant Navigator (Bomber) DUNCAN JOSEPH  MACKINNON, Flight Lieutenant JAMES KENNETH  RAMSAY, and Pilot Officer EDWARD FORSAITH WILLIAMS whose names appear on this list, who were also serving with the 435 Squadron of the RCAF, died on the same day as Leading Aircraftman PROSSER and are buried in TAUKKYAN WAR CEMETERY.  Presumably they all perished under the same circumstances.
