Son of Joseph H. and Ella M. Galipeau, of Coleraine, Minnesota, United States of America. Air Gunner Flight Sergeant Robert H. Galipeau was found drifted ashore near Lakolk on the island of Rømø, Denmark on 16 October and was laid to rest in Kirkeby cemetery on 20 October 1942. Dr.Hülzer from Sylt officiated at the graveside ceremony.

KIRKEBY CEMETERY (Island of Romo)

The island of Romo is situated off the west coast of Jutland, just north of the German frontier. It is connected by a causeway with the mainland. The nearest railway station is Steaerbaek. Kirkeby is on the east side of the island near its southern end. Follow the main road over the causeway to the traffic lights, turn left at the lights into Havnebyvet and the church is about 2 kilometres along here on the right.
