Additional Information
Born 22 June 1922 in Handsworth, Saskatchewan. Son of Henry Francis and Caroline Shoemaker, of Handsworth, Saskatchewan, Canada. Brother of Frances, Syulvia, Bruce, Glenn, Carl and Grant. He enlisted on 27 November 1942 stating he was single and he employed himself by farming and trapping. He served in Canada from 27 November 1942 to 26 August 1943, United Kingdom from 27 August 1943 to 12 June 1944 and North West Europpe from 13 June 1944 until his death. Though a member of the Regina Rifles Regiment, he was attached to the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion.

Ranville is best reached by taking the D513 north-eastwards out of Caen, and after about 9 kilometres turning left at Herouvillette. Go north for one kilometre and then turn left into Ranville village. The War Cemetery is on Rue des Airbornes.
