Son of James Henry and Sarah Anne (nee Beach) Prendergast of Carleton Place, Ontario. Brother of Wilfred, James, William, Harold, Helen, Ivy, Norah and Margaret. The 'Canadian' wrote: He was a fine type of young Canadian manhood, honest and upright, pleasant and courteous, and highly respected by his elders. When the call for duty came, Bert gave his services voluntarily to his King and country and last week gave his life for freedom.
