Son of William Nichol and Cora E. Bruce of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Husband of Helen Dorothy Bruce and father of Heather Jean of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Sgt Bruce was employed as a civilian training instructor under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan at Dominion Skyways (Training) Limited at the time of his death.

WINNIPEG (BROOKSIDE) CEMETERY

The cemetery is located immediately west of the Red River College, at 3001 Notre Dame Avenue, in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. During the First World War, Winnipeg was the headquarters of No 10 Military District and it contained six military hospitals of 972 beds. Air force and army training camps were established in the area during the Second World War, with No 103 Canadian Army Basic Training Centre at Fort Garry. Winnipeg (Brookside) Cemetery contains 299 Commonwealth burials of the First World War and 149 from the Second World War, most of them in the special military plot.
