Additional Information

Born:

Enlistment:

February 10, 1917
Edmonton, Alberta

Alfred-Frédérick Kennedy. Son of Frédérick Kennedy (deceased in 1904) and Joséphine Jourdain, of Green Lake, Saskatchewan. Husband of Lucia Durocher (deceased in 1915), of Beauval, Saskatchewan. He apparently remarried to Thérèse-Céleste Durocher, but no documents were found to verify this information.

He stated being born on 15 September 1885 when he enlisted, but this information is disputed in other documents, therefore, the date listed in the 1901 census, 3 August 1881, could be considered most probable.

Upon his arrival in France, he was part of a group of Anglophones who, on 29 March 1918, were transferred by error to the 22nd Battalion. However, he never joined this unit and on 13 April, he was re-transferred to the 14th Battalion, an Anglophone unit, and he served with them until he was killed in action.

Commemorated on Page 440 of the First World War Book of Remembrance. Request a copy of this page. Download high resolution copy of this page.
