Location:

The CANADIAN CEMETERY No. 2 is about 2.5 kilometres north of the village of Neuville-St. Vaast. The village is about 6 kilometres north of Arras and 1 kilometre east of the main road from Arras to Bethune. The cemetery is on a spur road turning left from the road to Givenchy-en-Gohelle, about 1 kilometre south of the Canadian Memorial at Vimy.

  • Photo of David Cowie– David Cowie born in Forfar, Scotland was living in Pipestone, Manitoba when the Great War broke. His sister Agnes MacKenzie received a letter from William Scott Kennedy also of Pipestone describing his bravery at Vimy Ridge. Sadly Mr. Kennedy was killed in November of that same year. However David's nephew Alex and Scott Kennedy's niece Gertrude married and we now are in possession of portrait of David Cowie and the letter from William Scott Kennedy. The attestation numbers of these two men are only three numbers apart. David 148387 and Scott 148390 both from the small village of Pipestone, Manitoba.
