Baptized Joseph-Adélard Bouvier. Son of Louis Bouvier and Victoria Salois, de Montréal, Québec. He stated being born on 6 February 1898 when he enlisted. The first name Arphir is not inscribed in his baptismal record, but it is the first name that was listed in the 1901 and 1911 censuses.
