Son of Dr. Léonidas LaRue of Québec Quebec. Formerly served with the 87th Quebec Battery. This is the homage paid to the late Lucien LaRue by the Quebec Chronicle: "Private Lucien LaRue, of this city, who was wounded at Paardeberg, and who we are told has now died of typhoid fever, gave his life for his country and his Queen, just as absolutely as if he had died on the battlefield. His name is worthy of being included among those of the nation's heroes, because he answered the call to arms, did his duty as a soldier, and died in uniform.
