Différents tableaux explicatifs ornent les murs et les sentiers de ce lieu historique de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. En cas de chute de la Grande-Bretagne, une importante partie de la flotte britannique aurait élu domicile dans ce port où l'eau est très profonde. En préparation de cette éventualité, on y construisit Fort Péninsule.
