Alain Charland

Mr. Alain Charland is an active member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Drug Section, in Québec and a training officer with the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Eastern), at Valcartier. He has given up to 35 talks on the harmful effects of drugs to a number of Eastern Quebec Cadet Corps groups. Since 1993, three old Canadian Forces (CF) vehicles restored by Mr. Charland have been used in ceremonies in Quebec and Ottawa (Remembrance Day, Canada Day, etc.). A military history buff, he has amassed an impressive collection of old Canadian Forces uniforms, badges and clothing that he loans to various organizations for ceremonies or exhibitions, including Veterans Affairs Canada and Branch 260 of the Royal Canadian Legion, of which he is a member. For the past ten years, Mr. Charland has represented the RCMP at the Remembrance Day ceremony in Québec, wearing the red serge, as a sentry, along with members of the three CF commands. He is also a volunteer with the Canadian Organ Donors Association and transports organs and medical teams throughout the province of Quebec, contributing to saving the lives or improving the quality of life of fellow citizens. Mr. Charland's tireless dedication and commitment to Canada's war Veterans, CF Veterans and youth are well known in the community, where he enjoys discussing military history with them.
