Fred Skinner

A Navy Veteran of the Second World War, Mr. Skinner is a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association in Niagara Falls, which he served in many capacities including President. Mr. Skinner has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of Veterans. Through his work with the Royal Canadian Naval Association, he has distinguished himself by establishing an exemplary operation, the "Trillium Room." This room houses over 100 wheelchairs, walkers, and canes which can be loaned out without charge to Veterans. At his own expense, he picks up and delivers these devices when necessary and services them in a repair shop that he helped to create. Mr. Skinner's many voluntary services to Veterans also include driving Veterans to appointments, contributing to Food Drives, preparing Veterans' Income Tax returns and visiting ailing Veterans. Mr. Skinner is well known in his community for his contribution to the well-being of Veterans and his efforts have been recognized by the City of Niagara Falls.
