Mrs. Powell is the widow of a Veteran and a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Branch 93 in Oromocto, New Brunswick. She has played a major role in numerous RCL and community events, helping with food preparation and other organizing activities. Mrs. Powell has held all executive positions on the Ladies Auxiliary, including nine years as president, and she has served as district councillor on the New Brunswick Command’s executive. Throughout her service to the RCL, she has graciously accepted to represent Veterans at commemorative ceremonies and events held in her community during Veterans’ Week. Mrs. Powell has worked on numerous Poppy campaigns and has served as the Ladies Auxiliary’s representative on RCL Branch 93’s Bursary and Scholarship Committee. She also regularly attends Remembrance Day ceremonies at local schools during Veterans’ Week to help students learn about the achievements and sacrifices of Canada’s Veterans.
