Gordon Pope

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan

Mr. Pope served in the Canadian Forces as a Leading Air Craftsman for 5 years. He has been a dedicated member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association (ANAVETS) for the past 26 years. Mr. Pope has served as 2nd Vice President of his Unit #222, has acted as Service Officer, and is currently serving as Provincial 1st Vice President. He has received the Certificate of Appreciation, Life Membership and the American Legion Friendship Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to ANAVETS. Among his current responsibilities, Mr. Pope is a member of the Sherwood Veterans Hospital Advisory Board where he has chaired the Publicity and Finance Committees. For three years, Mr. Pope was a member of the Veterans Affairs Canada Prairie Regional Advisory Council. He actively participates in Veterans’ Week ceremonies and he brings the message of remembrance to students in his region. In 2006, he was presented with the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal. Mr. Pope has acted as a Boy Scout Leader, a Minor League Hockey Coach, a Baseball Coach, and he has been involved with Big Brothers for a number of years.
