James D. (Jim) McKinny

Mr. McKinny was a paratrooper and served in the Korean War from 1952-53. Following his release from the military, he became very active in his community helping to commemorate Canada’s military heritage. Mr. McKinny is a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362 where he currently serves on the executive. In addition, he is also secretary for the Remembrance Committee and a board member for Nutana Legion Manor. He has also served on the Korea Veterans Association of Canada in various capacities including National Treasurer, Membership Chairman and Regional Treasurer (Prairie Region), as well as Secretary/Treasurer and Membership Chairman (Saskatoon Unit 46). Mr. McKinny is Treasurer of the Woodlawn Cemetery Monument Committee which successfully raised funds to construct a monument in the military section of the cemetery. In 2005, Mr. McKinny was presented with the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal, as well as the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.
