Commemorative Partnership Program
Veterans Affairs Canada is committed to honouring those who served Canada in times of war, military conflict and peace, and to keeping the memory of their achievements and sacrifices alive for all Canadians.
About this program
The Commemorative Partnership Program provides funding to organizations undertaking remembrance initiatives.
The program may be able to provide funding for different types of projects:

Community Engagement
This funding supports organizations undertaking remembrance initiatives including commemorative activities or the development of commemorative materials.

Community War Memorials
This funding supports the construction, restoration or expansion of a community war memorial.

No. 2 Construction Battalion
This dedicated funding is for Community Engagement and Community War Memorial projects commemorating the legacy of No. 2 Construction Battalion.
Note: Dedicated funding is being provided by the Department of National Defence and is based on a recommendation from the National Apology Advisory Committee.
Do you qualify?
Eligible recipients are non-profit or for-profit organizations, in Canada or abroad, as well as Canadian provinces, territories and municipalities.
Individuals and federal organizations are not eligible for funding.
To be eligible, the project must commemorate the achievements and sacrifices of those who served Canada since Confederation (1867).
Projects must also be of a finite duration, with clear start and end dates.

Application deadlines and funding
Community Engagement – local and regional projects
Funding:
- Up to $5,000 for local projects
or
- Up to $10,000 for regional projects
Deadline: Applications accepted year round
Community Engagement – projects commemorating under-represented Veterans (project must focus on at least one of the following groups: modern Veterans, women Veterans, Indigenous and racialized Veterans, 2SLGBTQI+ Veterans, and Canadian Armed Forces Veterans who have served our country in domestic operations such as wildfires, ice storms and floods)
Funding up to $25,000
Deadline: 30 April 2025 (for projects taking place between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026)
Community War Memorials – small restoration projects
Funding up to $10,000
Deadline: Applications accepted year round
Community War Memorials – new construction or large restoration projects
Funding up to $25,000
Deadline: 1 December 2025 (for projects taking place between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027)
No. 2 Construction Battalion – community engagement projects or community war memorial projects
Funding up to $50,000
Deadline: 31 January 2026 (for projects taking place between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027)

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
I submitted an application, but I have not yet received a response from Veterans Affairs Canada. When can I expect to hear back?
You should have received an email acknowledging receipt of your application. For an update on your file, please contact the Commemorative Partnership Program by email.
When can I expect to have a decision on a funding application?
We aim to notify applicants in writing of our funding decision within 12 weeks of the application deadline, provided the application is deemed complete.
Can I apply for CPP funding if I have already started my project?
Yes. However, only expenses incurred from the date of receipt of an application to the end of the agreement period may be considered for reimbursement. Completed projects are ineligible for funding.
Can I edit the funding application that I submitted through the online portal?
Submitted applications cannot be edited in the online portal. You may view submitted applications by clicking on “Access an existing application” in the portal. If you need to add information to your submitted application, please contact the program by email.
