John Clarry

Mr. John Clarry is a Veteran of the Second World War and a retired Colonel of the Canadian Forces. He belongs to a number of Veterans organizations which include: the Fort York Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion of which he is Past President; Honourary President of the Royal Canadian Military Institute; Past Honourary Counsel of the Conference of Defence Associations; the Army Cadet League; the Canadian Forces Logistics Association; and he was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Army Services Corps (RCASC) Association. Mr. Clarry prides himself on preserving the memories of all Veterans and their spouses who served in the RCASC. Since the end of the Second World War, Mr. Clarry has been involved with organizing annual reunion dinners and memorial services at CFB Borden, as well as helping to organize annual Ladies’ Dinners for surviving spouses and family members of RCASC. Mr. Clarry was instrumental in the funding arrangements for the RCASC Diamond Jubilee in 1961, which involved publishing the Corps history entitled “Wait for the Wagon.” He has also created, organized and administered Trusts for non-public funded RCASC regimental property. Mr. Clarry helped with the funding for the RCASC Memorial in Red Deer in 2000 and the RCASC Centennial Reunion in 2001. The placement of a commemorative plaque on the BOLD tank at Juno Beach for RCASC members who fought in the Battle of Normandy and the Liberation of North West Europe was also assisted by the valiant efforts of Mr. Clarry. Several generations of young officer trainees at the Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics have been influenced by Mr. Clarry, where he has often been a guest speaker.
