Ronald Hawkins (Posthumous)

Northampton, New Brunswick

A Veteran of the Second World War, Mr. Ronald Hawkins served with the Cape Breton Highlanders in Italy and Northwestern Europe. He earned the rank of Sergeant Major and the Military Medal. After the War, Mr. Hawkins returned to the Woodstock area and became a member of Branch 11 of The Royal Canadian Legion. For his good work as a Service Officer, Mr. Hawkins was awarded Life Membership in the Legion as well as the Meritorious Service Medal with Palm Leaf. He was also a chartered member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada, Unit 95 in Woodstock until his passing in 2002. Mr. Hawkins authored three books dedicated to Veterans – “We Will Remember Them”, “They Were So Young” and “One Boy’s War.”
