Joseph Collinson is a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and has been part of the RCMP Veterans Association in Edmonton for over 44 years.
Following his retirement after 26 years of service with the RCMP, Joseph joined the RCMP Veterans Association in 1979. Collinson has overseen the Honour Guard program, coordinating volunteers to help out at funerals and celebrations of life. He also sends final resting places of these Veterans to the contact person for the RCMP National Grave Discovery Database & History Website to ensure their records are updated.
Joseph has also travelled throughout Canada and the United States of America in search of former members’ graves, so their resting place could be recorded on the website, providing valuable input to the RCMP history project that aims to plot all graves of former members.
Through his work with the Honour Guard program, Joseph has provided support to over 300 funerals and celebrations of life, providing a solemn but meaningful role in the Edmonton region.
