For over a decade, Francis Aranha has been a steadfast volunteer with numerous Veteran-focused organizations, contributing more than 200 hours of service to groups such as Vets’ Angels, the Veterans Food Bank, First Nations Veterans support groups, local food banks and schools.
Francis has played a pivotal role in mobilizing community, business and civic leaders to support initiatives that honour and commemorate Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans. His work has been especially impactful at the Carewest Colonel Belcher Care Centre, where he and the Vets’ Angels team ensure Veterans feel respected and remembered. From organizing monthly birthday celebrations and outings to assisting with grocery shopping, Francis brings joy, dignity and companionship to those who are often overlooked.
Beyond direct support, Francis has been instrumental in fostering a culture of remembrance within the broader community. He collaborates with local schools to involve Legion members in Remembrance Day ceremonies and encourages student participation in annual commemorative programs. He also works closely with cadet groups and corporate partners to distribute poppies and raise vital funds for Veteran causes.
One of Francis’s most remarkable contributions is his annual door-to-door food drive, which collects over two tons of food each year for the Veterans Food Bank—ensuring that no Veteran in his community goes hungry.
Through more than 10 years of dedicated service, Francis Aranha has not only transformed the lives of countless Veterans but has also inspired others to join the cause, helping to sustain and grow these essential initiatives for years to come.
