Pat, a devoted member of the 250 (Saint John) Wing of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Association, has been a steadfast supporter of Veterans for over 20 years alongside her late husband, Chuck. Though never one to seek the spotlight, Pat's tireless efforts have made her an indispensable part of the Veteran community in Saint John.
Throughout her decades of service, Pat has played a vital role in organizing key commemorative events, including the annual Battle of Britain ceremony and the RCAF Pennfield Ridge Memorial Service. Her responsibilities have ranged from coordinating VIP guests and caterers to editing ceremony programs and managing logistics. For the past eight years, she has also served as Treasurer of 250 Wing—a demanding role she fulfills with diligence and care.
During the pandemic, despite not yet being a member of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL), Pat co-chaired the Poppy Campaign for four years alongside Chuck. She helped organize campaign activities, staffed tables and managed wreath orders. In 2021, she officially joined Jervis Bay Memorial Branch #53 of the RCL and has since served as the branch's Treasurer. Though not a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, she has regularly volunteered at Legion dinners, always ready to lend a hand.
Pat and Chuck also opened their home each summer to host BBQs for 250 Wing members and local Veterans, creating a warm and welcoming space for camaraderie. For 10 years, Pat organized the Wing Dinner for Veterans, held twice annually, often with just one assistant. Her commitment extended to the local Air Cadet program, where she served on the Parents Sponsoring Committee for a decade. At times, she and one other volunteer were the only consistent support for the cadet staff, helping coordinate activities and liaising with parents.
Pat is deeply involved in fundraising and outreach, securing donors and sponsors, organizing meals, delivering wreaths and supplies and ensuring that aging or ill members can attend events by offering transportation. She actively recruits new members and checks in on those who are unwell or no longer active.
Pat is known for her consistency, loyalty and passion. Her enthusiasm for Veteran and Cadet initiatives is unwavering and she approaches every task—big or small—with humility and heart. Her quiet leadership and behind-the-scenes dedication have made a lasting impact on the lives of countless Veterans and their families.
