For more than 15 years, Sylvain Jetté has been known for his exceptional commitment to Veterans, RCMP members and the first responders in difficulty in the Greater Montreal region.
Guided by deep empathy and a keen sense of duty, Sylvain devotes a significant portion of his free time to helping Veterans and their families at times when they are vulnerable. His attentive listening, his ability to build trust, and his dedication to guiding people to the appropriate resources make him a valuable and respected resource in the community.
For more than two decades, Sylvain has been directly involved in ensuring the well-being of serving military members and Veterans. His involvement goes far beyond navigating administrative roadblocks and overseeing a successful transition. His work has changed lives. The support he offers frequently extends over years. The compassion and empathy he demonstrates toward Veterans in need has often translated into friendship and the offer of participation in Veteran and civilian communities. Even when Veterans no longer require his services, he keeps in touch to make sure life is giving them everything they have worked so hard to achieve.
Beyond his support work, Sylvain plays an essential role in the duty to remember. He loves to play the bagpipes, and he puts his talent to work for commemorations. For more than 10 years, he has travelled, often at his own expense, to play at funerals, Remembrance Day ceremonies and community events, to honour Veterans. He provided his services on a volunteer basis during ceremonies organized by Royal Canadian Legion branches in schools and at Ste. Anne’s Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.
Sylvain is also a steadfast volunteer with The Trail, where he guides and supports Veterans in transition. Whether it is for administrative support, a move, or simply to provide a reassuring presence, Sylvain is always there. Thanks to his tangible actions and his steady presence, many Veterans have once again found confidence, stability and hope.
His unwavering dedication, his unlimited generosity and his steady commitment have transformed lives, supported families and strengthened the social fabric of the military community. Sylvain Jetté exemplifies, with humility and humanity, the highest values of service and remembrance.
