Horace L. Warden

Red Deer, Alberta

Mr. Warden is a Korea War Veterans who served with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps. Following his release from the Canadian Forces, he became very active in assisting Veterans and their families. In 2001, he assisted National Defence in having 185 Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medals presented to Veterans or next of kin. Mr. Warden is a longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion and has been a member of Branch 35 for more than 28 years. Mr. Warden has been Service Officer of Branch 35 since 2001. He is 2nd Vice President and, as Honour Guard, has assisted in over 125 Veterans’ funerals. He was instrumental in having a 155 Howitzer artillery cannon transported from Quebec to Red Deer, Alberta, where it remains on display in front of Legion Branch 35. The Royal Canadian Legion awarded Mr. Warden life membership in 2003. He has also served on the executive of the Bighorn Unit 67 of the Korea Veterans Association of Canada. He was presented with the Certificate of Merit in 2003 for his many years of dedicated service. He was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal on November 11, 2005, for his outstanding contribution in helping Veterans and their families as well as commemorating their service and sacrifice, including the Poppy Campaign and the Candlelight Tribute.
