This memorial is dedicated to those who left Canada via Bedford Basin to fight in the First and Second World Wars and those who died in the collision of two ships near the park. It was unveiled December 6, 2000.

THIS PARK IS DEDICATED
TO THOSE WHO SET FORTH
FROM BEDFORD BASIN TO PROTECT
OUR FREEDOM IN TWO WORLD WARS.

ALSO TO THOSE LIVES LOST WHEN
THE SHIPS, "IMO" AND "MONT BLANC"
COLLIDED IN THE NARROWS,
ONE MILE EAST OF THIS SITE,
CAUSING "THE GREAT EXPLOSION",
DECEMBER 6TH, 1917.

THE ALTAR OF ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH ON
RUSSELL STREET. TO THE RIGHT, A
FRAGMENT OF THE "MONT BLANC".
THE ANCHOR WAS BLOWN TWO MILES AWAY.
