In 1950, Brigadier Melville, Colonel Commandant of the Royal Canadian Engineers and CME from 1948 to1973, presented a trophy to be known as The Honorary Colonel Commandant’s Trophy. The trophy is a large silver bowl and was awarded for the first time in 1952 to the Reserve Force unit with the best overall efficiency. In 1998, the trophy was reassigned for annual award to the best overall Reserve unit in Land Forces Québec Area Engineer’s Evaluation. Refer to 13004-060
