This memorial is dedicated to the memory of Sergeant Major William Latimer, 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment, who was killed in action in South Africa on 30 May 1900 at the age of twenty-four years. It was unveiled by Mayor S.C.H. Miner on 20 September 1902.
