In 1947, the Flinton Community Club decided to build a library as a memorial for Veterans of the Second World War. Flinton Memorial Library opened in 1949 and was dedicated in honour and in memory of those of Kaladar, Anglesea and Effingham Townships who fought in the Second World War. It was presented to the community by members of the Flinton Community Club as a tangible expression of the respect and devotion held for boys and girls who enlisted.
