The Sergeant Ivan Stark Mine Awareness Training Area was dedicated on 26 May 2000. It honours Sgt I. Stark, Royal Canadian Engineers, a member of the United Nations Emergency Force who became the first peacekeeper killed by a mine on UN duty in Egypt on 27 September 1957.
