There are two oak trees near the 416 Wing RCAFA Air Force Memorial that are dedicated to grieving the tragedy of war and committed to the promise of peace. One tree is old and was chosen by the City of Kingston and PeaceQuest as a symbolic peace tree. A plaque was placed at its base on September 21, 2013, the International Day of Peace.

The city planted a young oak tree on the same day, located at the corner of Barrie and O'Kill Street. It recognizes September 21 as a day to cease hostilities and build awareness of peace actions. The Mayor and City Council declared September 21 as Peace Day in Kingston.
