This sculpture, “LT H.Z.C. COCKBURN, VC”, depicts a Royal Canadian Dragoon who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions during the Battle of Leliefontein (South Africa) on November 7, 1900. Lt Cockburn is shown as turning his head and cupping his mouth as he shouts orders to his Troop during the RCD’s Rearguard action. The sculpture was unveiled in March 2013 and is dedicated to the memory of Lieutenant Cockburn, VC.
