Canadian Veterans' Memorial

Waterloo, Ontario
Type
Other

This memorial is dedicated to veterans of all wars and peacekeeping missions that Canada has participated in to date. It was erected by the K-W Naval Association Charitable Trust Fund and unveiled on 5 November 2006. The sculptor Timothy R. Schmalz used historical dress and military gear to represent every war the Canadians have participated in. It depicts the men and women who were lost in these wars as they return to console and present their surviving brother to future generations. It represents both the living and the deceased equally. The veteran at the front of the statue acts as a literal and physical bridge from those who died to those viewing the statue.
