This memorial replaced the original memorial that was erected by the Wardsville Dramatic Society and Village Council. In 2001, the Wardsville community centre where the original memorial was located was sold. The memorial was rebuilt with the original plaque and moved to its present location at the corner of Wellington and Church Streets at Little Kin Park.
