This street is named in memory of Lance-Corporal Charles Alfred Cornelius.

Charles Alfred Cornelius was born on 25 November 1915 in London, ON. He attended Simcoe School and Central Collegiate in London, before joining the military in the spring of 1940. Assigned to the Royal Canadian Regiment, Lance-Corporal Cornelius was a machine-gunner with this Regiment, when he was killed in action on 2 October 1943. Charles Alfred Cornelius is buried at the Bari War Cemetery.
